The Clarinda School Board approved Chris Bergman as interim superintendent Friday, July 3 with some stipulations.
Bergman will be the district’s director of instruction and finance for the school year. Her superintendent license has yet to be approved by state officials. She said she does not know when the approval will occur.
Last month, the Clarinda School Board accepted the assistance from the Green Hills Area Education Agency. Iowa law permits an AEA administrator to act as superintendent.
Bergman was a central office administrator with the Johnston Community School District. Her recent duties have included cabinet level decision making ensuring district goals, budgets, and policies all served in the best interest of student learning.
Prior to Johnston, Bergman was at Waukee Community School District for three years where she was the middle school principal for two years, and the last year she was the Executive Director of the Center for Advanced Professional Studies.
The board plans to use Bergman for the upcoming school year and will begin the search for a permanent superintendent later this year.
The Clarinda school district board of directors were assisted through the interview process by Dr. Paul Tedesco with ED Wise Consulting Services.
