HJ - Standard Clarinda Square

At the request of Clarinda City Manager Gary McClarnon and Clarinda Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Elaine Farwell, Page County Board of Supervisors approved to donate $5,000 toward the Clarinda facade project.

Earlier this year, improvement work started on certain properties around the Clarinda square. The project is funded by a $500,000 Community Development Block Grant and contributions by property owners. Farwell and McClarnon asked the county to make a donation.

“Things are going well and it is looking nice,” McClarnon said about the project.

The city of Clarinda donated $50,000.

Supervisor Chuck Morris said he wants county contributions to projects that make an impact.

Supervisor Jon Herzberg made the motion to contribute $5,000. It was second by Alan Armstrong.

The project is expected to be finished in late November.

Supervisors approved a tax abatement for the city of Braddyville.

Supervisors approved to meet at 4 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 18, at the Page County West Building in Shenandoah.
