Scott McComb announced he will not seek election to the Clarinda Board of Education in November.
In May McComb was appointed to fill the remaining term of board director Nola Bond, who resigned.
McComb was first elected to the board in 2001 and served until 2011. Two years later ran for a position again and was elected, then served until 2017, when he decided not to seek another term.
He was one of several applicants to fill Bond’s position.
McComb said he has enjoyed being a member of the board during his previous and current terms. He added that he was also glad he had “the opportunity to be involved in the process for selecting” the school district’s interim superintendent, Chris Bergman.
Petitions to run for school board seats are due by the end of the business day today at the respective school district office.
The school board election is scheduled for Nov. 5, the same date as municipal elections.
