Two Clarinda Academy students were airlifted to a Des Moines hospital after wrecking a car at about 5 a.m., Friday, Aug. 9 near Afton in Union County.

According to a Union County Sheriff report, the two students were in a stolen car from Clarinda. The students had left Clarinda Academy without permission the morning of Thursday, Aug. 8. Authorities called off the search for the two at about 11 a.m. The two students are 16 years old.

Creston Police Department attempted to stop the car which resulted in a pursuit and eventual wreck.

The initial search for the students was assisted by Montgomery County, Clarinda Police Department and Page County Emergency Management.
