Page County Sheriff Lyle Palmer warns the public about how to handle door-to-door salesman that may be working in the county.
“It is that time of the year where residents get door to door out of the area sales and contractors coming to their residence. This is a reminder that you should always check with the Better Business Bureau or similar agencies prior to agreeing to or signing any contracts with these people. Make sure the work is exactly what you believe it will be,” he said.
Palmer said he is aware how residents have work done by travelling companies and don’t get the work, or quality of work that they think they will get.
“Once these people and companies have completed the work and are gone, it is almost impossible to recoup any losses for services performed or not performed,” he said.
Palmer urges residents to verify all information.
“In the past false identifications and company names have been used. Once again, ask for references and check them out. Do not fall for pressure sales because they are usually too good to be true,” he said.
