Marilyn Maxine Evers San Diego, California Dec. 12, 1938-Oct. 11, 2019 Former Denison, Iowa resident, Marilyn Maxine Evers, passed away peacefully at her home in San Diego, California on Friday, October 11, 2019 after a long battle with various cancers. Marilyn was born December 12, 1938 in Denison, Iowa to parents, William C. Evers and Sophie (Thomsen) Evers. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa. Marilyn grew up on a farm located northwest of rural Denison where she attended country school and had her older sister, Shirley, as a teacher. She attended Denison High School where she graduated in 1957. After graduation, she moved to Omaha, Nebraska where she worked for Mutual of Omaha for two years. She then moved to San Diego where she worked for Pacific Telephone for 35 years, beginning as a telephone operator and retiring as a fleet manager in December of 1994. One of her greatest passions and that brought her joy was to send care packages and letters to numerous members of the military serving overseas from 2003-2013. During the last few years she began painting pictures and always enjoyed watching her beloved San Diego Chargers and San Diego Padres. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Sophie Evers, her sister, Shirley (Evers) Winquist, brother-in-law, Virgil Winquist, and nephews, Randall Holdsworth and Sydney Winquist. She is survived by her sister, Clarion (Melvin) Holdsworth of Denison, her twin sister, Evelyn (Robert) Rank of Clarinda, one nephew and five nieces, four great nephews and four great nieces and four great, great nieces. A small memorial service is being planned for family at a later date.
