Phoebe Lorensen Clarinda, Iowa Apr. 7, 1930-Aug. 21, 2019 Phoebe Lorensen, age 89, of Clarinda, Iowa entered into peace Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at Clarinda Regional Health Center, Clarinda, Iowa. Celebration of Life Memorial services were held 3:00 PM Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Hillside Missionary Church, Clarinda, Iowa with Pastor Dave Miller officiating. Visitation was held Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Hillside Missionary Church 2 to 3 PM with the family greeting friends. Interment will be held at the Oakwood Cemetery in Weeping Water, Nebraska at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Hillside Missionary Church. Phoebe Lorensen, 89, of Clarinda, Iowa, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, August 21, 2019. Phoebe Esther Wipf was born on April 7, 1930, in Doland, South Dakota, to Joseph and Anna (Hofer) Wipf. She graduated from Weeping Water (Nebraska) High School in 1948. After graduating from high school, she worked as a telephone operator in Weeping Water. She married Donald Lorensen on July 21, 1949, and the couple lived in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. They then moved to Clarinda in February, 1963, where they owned and operated Peterson Mercantile. The couple retired from the store in December of 1989, and they continued living in Clarinda. Don and Phoebe were longtime members of the Hillside Missionary Church in Clarinda, where they served faithfully until their deaths in 2016 and 2019, respectively. Phoebe was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Donald Lorensen; daughter Donna Lee Lorensen; her parents Joseph and Anna Wipf; brothers and sisters-in-law Roy and Hazel Wipf and Willard and Midge Wipf; brothers-in-law Roger Lorensen and Kenneth Lorensen; nephews Tom Wipf, Will Wipf, and Jim Wipf. She is survived by daughter Linda (Roger) Erickson of Shenandoah, Iowa, and son Fred Lorensen of Monroe, Iowa; grandchildren Amy (Jon) Bruney of Fremont, Indiana; April (Pat) McDermott of Madrid, Iowa; Andrea (Chris) Finck of Winterset, Iowa; Stacy (Tim) Neibergall of Monroe, Iowa; Gina (Brandon) Brown of Huxley, Iowa; Todd Lorensen of Yankton, South Dakota; 15 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; nephews Roger (Margaret) Wipf and Terry (Kathy) Wipf; nieces Carol Wipf and Susan Nielsen; many friends and church family.
