Gwendolyn Polsley Omaha, Nebraska Apr. 27, 1922-Oct. 18, 2019 Gwendolyn Polsley, 97, of Omaha, Nebraska, formerly of Clarinda, Iowa entered into peace Friday, October 18, 2019 at Valhaven Care Center, Valley, Nebraska. Graveside Services were held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Clarinda Cemetery, Clarinda, Iowa with Reverend Andrew Rubenking officiating . Visitation was held Saturday at Ritchie Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. 10:15 a.m. with the family greeting friends. Interment was at the Clarinda Cemetery in Clarinda, Iowa. Gwendolyn Irene Polsley was born April 27, 1922 in Yorktown, Iowa to Arthur Wilson and Gelena (Downing) Wilson. She was the fourth child of seven and only girl with six brothers. She grew up in Clarinda, Iowa and graduated from Clarinda High School. She graduated from Iowa Western Community College as a LPN. She was united in marriage October 24, 1941 to Melbern C. Polsley and they were blessed with two sons, Larry and Rex. Gwen worked for over twenty six years as a nurse and dental technician at Clarinda Treatment Center. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Clarinda. Gwen and Melbern move to Blair, Nebraska in 1986 to be near their family. She was very active in volunteer work with the Blair Methodist Church, Blair Hospital, Good Shepherd Home and Thrift store. Gwen enjoyed watching football games, traveling and family fishing vacations to Minnesota and Canada. She also enjoyed crocheting and was an avid reader. Gwen resided at Valhaven Care & Rehab Center, Valley, Nebraska for the past six years. Preceding Gwen in death are her parents, Arthur and Gelena Wilson; husband, Melbern Polsley; brothers, Harry Wendell Wilson, Floyd Michael, Lloyd Michael, Francis Wilson, Lowell Wilson, Keith Wilson; son, Rex Polsley. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Larry Polsley and wife Sandee of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren, Colene Liles of Red Oak, Iowa, Debra Chigas of Omaha, Nebraska, Tracy Carman of Las Vegas, Nevada, Angela Starr of Omaha, Nebraska; eight great grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; nieces; nephews and many friends.
