Harold Whip Clarinda, Iowa July 22, 1928-Sept. 29, 2019 Harold Whipp, age 91, of Clarinda, Iowa entered into peace Sunday, September 29, 2019 at Goldenrod Manor, Clarinda, Iowa. Funeral Celebration of Life Services were held 10:30 AM Thursday, October 3, 2019 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Clarinda, Iowa with Pastor Marcia Cline officiating. Visitation was held Wednesday, October 2, at Trinity Presbyterian Church 5 to 7 PM with the family greeting friends. Interment was held at the Clarinda Cemetery in Clarinda, Iowa. Arrangements were entrusted to the Ritchie Funeral Home of Clarinda, Iowa, where we 'Celebrate Life'. Harold Leroy Whipp, son of Eldon Whipp and Mary (Henning) Whipp was born on July 22, 1928 at his grandparents farm 1 3/4 mile west of College Springs, Iowa on the kitchen table. He was the oldest of three children. He lived his entire life in Page County with the exception of his service career. Harold graduated from Amity High School, College Springs, Iowa in 1946. He married Jo Ann New on May 28, 1949 and they moved to Clarinda, Iowa where they resided for many years. Harold worked for twelve years for Optiz Motor Company in and around serving his country for four years. On January 15, 1952 he entered the United States Air Force. He took his basic training at Wichita Falls, Texas. Harold spent two years and three months there and was then assigned to Greenland for one year and then spent his final six months at Whitman Air Force Base, Knob Noster, Missouri. Following his time in the Air Force he went back to work at Opitz. In February 1959, he went to work for a Ford Tractor Distributor, O'Shea Rogers Motor Company. In January 1963, Ford Motor Company bought out O'Shea Rogers and Harold worked for them. He traveled until May 1, 1976 and then bought the business (Whipp Sales & Service) which Bryan now owns. Harold was born and raised a Presbyterian and was a member of the College Springs Presbyterian Church. Following his marriage, he and Jo Ann moved their membership to Trinity Presbyterian Church, Clarinda, Iowa. He served as elder, trustee, usher, other offices and taught Sunday School for many years. He enjoyed adult Sunday School class in later years and the men's club and men's Bible study. Harold was a 50 year member of the Nodaway Lodge #140 Masons. Harold and Jo Ann had two children, Lori born in 1954 and Bryan born in 1960. Lori married John Veach and Bryan married Simat Stimson; Harold always thought he was gifted with great in-laws. He enjoyed his granddaughters, Nancy, Calla and Ajia and great grandchildren, Noah, Tyler and Emma. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Margie Jo Kenagy; brother, Keith Whipp and wife Dorie. Harold is survived by his wife of seventy years, Jo Ann Whipp of Clarinda, Iowa; daughter, Lori Veach and husband John of Clarinda, Iowa; son, Bryan Whipp and wife Simat of Clarinda, Iowa; granddaughters, Nancy McKinnon and husband Tim of Clarinda, Iowa, Calla Whipp (Tony D'Antuono) of Des Moines, Iowa and Ajia Whipp (Adrianna Garber) of Burlington Junction, Missouri; great grandchildren, Noah, Tyler and Emma McKinnon; brother-in-law, Oliver Kenagy of Brawley, California; nieces; nephews and many friends. Harold always enjoyed life and his Ford Automobiles. His favorite saying: "Drive Fords and vote Republican!"
