Clarinda High senior Kate Landhuis will be competing Saturday, Nov. 9 in the Iowa Girls Highschool Athletic Associations State Swimming and Diving  Championships.

Clarinda shares a swimming program with the Atlantic Trojans.

The state meet begins 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 8 with diving and swimming preliminaries and will conclude noon, Saturday at the YMCA-YWCA, 108 Washington St., in Marshalltown.

Landhuis is competing for the third time at the championships earning a spot on the podium in her first experience with a fourth-place mark as a member of  the 200 free relay.

This year she will be competing in the same event scheduled for Saturday afternoon.

Iowa does not recognize school class sizes in swimming so she will compete against perennial powerhouses from  Ames, Des Moines, Dubuque, Ankeny and Iowa City.

Joining her on the 200 free relay are Claire Christiansen, Aleah Hermansen, and Ann Lowry.
