Clarinda followed up its straight set win Sept. 24 against Shenandoah with a second consecutive sweep Thursday, Oct. 3, at Mount Ayr.
With the victory, the Cardinals improved to 6-12 overall in match play for the season.
The Cardinals set the tone early Thursday with a 25-15 win over Mount Ayr in the opening set. The Raiders mounted strong challenges in each of the final two games, but Clarinda held off the threats to win each set by matching scores of 25-23.
At the net, Clarinda delivered 36 kills and 14 blocks in the match. Morgan Lihs led the offensive attack with 15 kills.
On the defensive side of the court, Lihs also posted a team-high 14 digs to go along with four blocks and one assist.
Faith Espinosa contributed seven kills, one block and one dig. Hallee Fine and Jessalee Neihart followed with six kills apiece. Fine also led Clarinda with five blocks, while Neihart recorded four digs and one block.
Setter Teya Stickler tallied 32 set assists against Mount Ayr. She was also credited with eight digs, three blocks and one kill.
Cloe Holmstrom also picked up one kill and three digs in the match. Rylie Morgenstern added 10 digs and three assists from her libero position.
Taylor Cole chipped in with five digs. Saige Brown finished with three digs.
Clarinda also converted 60 of its 68 serve attempts against Mount Ayr for an 88.2 percent success rate. The Cardinals also collected seven aces.
Brown, Cole and Lihs were each credited with two aces on the night. Stickler accounted for the other ace for the Cardinals.
