Mayson Hartley continued her fine freshman season by collecting a third place finish for Clarinda during the Cyclone Cross Country Meet Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Harlan Golf and Country Club.

Hartley completed the course in 20:24 to claim third place honors. Lucy Borkowski of Harlan won the girls’ race with a time of 19:43. Rachel Mullennax of Glenwood was second in a time of 20:14.

As a team, the Cardinals finished eighth in the girls’ team standings with 222 points. The host Cyclones won the team championship with 35 points.

Keely Boltinghouse added a 38th place finish for Clarinda as she was clocked at 23:09. Hannah Milleson followed in 63rd place as she crossed the finish line in 25:07.

Clarinda also received a 65th place finish from Molly Lihs as she posted a time of 25:34. Isabelle Smith was right behind in 66th place with a time of 25:35.

Tatiana Schaapherder ranked 70th overall in the race as she was clocked at 26:38. Rounding out the lineup for the Cardinals was Madison Sunderman as she placed 74th with an effort of 27:18.

In the boys’ varsity race, the Cardinals finished 10th in the team standings with 224 points.

Pacing the Cardinals in the race was Jon McCall as he finished 22nd overall in a time of 18:00. Luke Baker turned in a 30th place finish with an effort of 18:29.

Mark Everett completed the course in 18:53 to rank 45th for the Cardinals. Michael Mayer followed in 56th place as he crossed the finish line in 19:16.

Ronnie Weidman claimed a 71st place finish as he was clocked at 19:55. Jordan Fasnacht and Alec Wyman rounded out the Clarinda lineup as they finished 80th and 81st respectively with times of 20:45 and 20:46.

The Cardinals also participated in the boys’ and girls’ junior varsity races at Harlan. Nathan King finished 51st for Clarinda in the boys’ race with a time of 21:06. Riley Holmstrom represented the Cardinals in the girls’ junior varsity raced. She finished 61st in the event with a time of 34:09.

Clarinda also competed in the Creston Invitational Tuesday, Sept. 24, at Southwestern Community College in Creston. The Cardinals finished sixth in the boys’ Class A team standings, while the girls’ squad finished 10th in Class A.

The Cardinals scored 136 points to claim the sixth place finish in the boys’ varsity race. Atlantic won the boys’ team title with 49 points.

McCall led the way for Clarinda as he finished 13th overall with a time of 18:38.4. Baker followed in 17th place as he completed the course in 19:02.2.

Mayer was clocked at 19:06.6 to rank 19th overall in the race. Everett chipped in with a 30th place finish in a time of 19:32.0.

Weidman and Fasnacht placed 60th and 62nd respectively for the Cardinals. Weidman crossed the finish line in 20:50.9. Fasnacht posed a mark of 20:52.5.

Wyman rounded out the varsity lineup for Clarinda with a 71st place finish. He was clocked at 21:13.1.

In the girls’ varsity race, the Cardinals scored 242 points to finish 10th in the team standings. Harlan won the championship with 35 points.

Hartley delivered the top individual performance of the day for Clarinda. She finished fourth in the race with a time of 21:01.0.

Boltinghouse 68th overall in the race as she was clocked at 26:11.5 Lihs chipped in with a time of 26:41.1 to place 73rd in the field.

Milleson was the 79th runner to cross the finish line as she posted a time of 27:02.3. Smith and Schaapherder completed the course in times of 27:38.1 and 27:41.1 to finish 82nd and 83rd respectively.

Sunderman placed 91st overall in the race. She covered the course in 28:04.9.

Clarinda also participated in both the Class A boys’ and girls’ junior varsity races at Creston. The Cardinals had four runners compete in the boys’ race and two runners entered in the girls’ event.

Forrest Eberly paced Clarinda as he finished 48th in the boys’ race with a time of 23:09.7. Brayden Hayes placed 56th as he was clocked at 23:37.0.

King turned in a time of 23:44.2 as he finished 62nd in the race. Anthony Webb followed in 88th place with a time of 26:50.3.

Skylar Ned and Holmstrom represented Clarinda in the girls’ junior varsity race at Creston. Ned finished 51st overall in the race with a time of 32:21.7. Holmstrom placed 62nd in a time of 35:39.7.

Middle school races were also held Tuesday as part of the Creston Invitational. The Cardinals placed third in the boys’ team event with 73 points.

Kyle Wagoner claimed the individual championship for the Cardinals in a winning time of 12:11.1. Treyton Schaapherder followed in fourth place as he completed the course in 13:19.7.

Cristian Ramos finished 18th in a time of 14:17.9. Alex Lihs crossed the finish line in 14:37.4 to rank 27th in the field. Jonah Norton delivered a 29th place finish with a mark of 14:39.7.

Jared Fasnacht provided a 32nd place performance with a time of 15:00.1. Grant Barr finished 54th overall in a time of 15:47.0.

Clarinda finished fourth in the girls’ middle school standings with 99 points.

Raenna Henke finished fifth for the Cardinals in a time of 14:53.4. Amelia Hesse collected a 17th place finish in 16:13.2.

Callie King finished 23rd as she was clocked at 16:33.4. Isabella Toler added a 31st place finish with a time of 17:05.1.

Cyerra Lauber and Addison Moore finished 47th and 48th respectively in the race. Lauber completed the course in 18:56.8. Moore crossed the finish line in 18:58.2.

Kaedance Daly contributed a 69th place effort. She recorded a time of 21:44.6.
