Kate Landhuis made her third appearance at the Iowa Girls’ High School Athletic Union State Swimming and Diving Championships held Friday and Saturday, Nov. 8-9, in Marshalltown.

A senior at Clarinda High School, Landhuis competes in swimming for Atlantic. The two schools have had a sharing agreement for many years allowing Clarinda swimmers and divers to join the Trojans.

Landhuis qualified for the state championships as a member of the Atlantic 200 meter freestyle relay team. The other members of the relay are Claire Christiansen, Aleah Hermansen and Ann Lowry.

The Trojans posted a time of 1:40.29 in the race Saturday. As a result, Atlantic finished 11th overall in the field of 32 teams.

Ames took top honors in the race with a time of 1:34.83. Dowling Catholic finished second, while Iowa City West claimed third place honors. There are no class distinctions for swimming and diving.
