Chris Bergman verbally accepted the interim superintendent position offered June 25 by the Clarinda School Board.
Bergman will begin duties at a date yet to be determined pending a successful background check and release from her current position with the Johnston School District.
“The board is extremely pleased with Mrs. Bergman’s spirit of collaboration and diverse qualifications for the position. Chris demonstrated a tremendous passion for education and a commitment to ensuring the districts strategic plan will remain the focus for all that we do,” said board president Greg Jones.
Bergman is currently a central office administrator with the Johnston Community School District. Her recent duties have included cabinet level decision making ensuring district goals, budgets, and policies all served in the best interest of student learning.
Prior to Johnston, Bergman was at Waukee Community School District for three years where she was the middle school principal for two years, and the last year she was the Executive Director of the Center for Advanced Professional Studies.
The board plans to use an interim for the upcoming school year and will begin the search for a permanent superintendent later this year.
The Clarinda school district board of directors were assisted through the interview process by Dr. Paul Tedesco with ED Wise Consulting Services.
