Twenty-five years ago the Clarinda Foundation Board of Directors were considering options for a fund-raiser for the Foundation, thus the birth of Clarinda Sings.
Clarinda Sings is a musical program featuring a community chorus comprised of individuals from Clarinda and the outlying areas with proceeds supporting the works of the Foundation.
The Foundation Board is delighted to announce that the very first Clarinda Sings Guest Artist back in 1995 Dave Webber will be performing at the 25th Annual Clarinda Sings Concert 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov.24 in the Clarinda High School Auditorium.
Dave was a Sports Director for WOWT Channel 6 in Omaha from 1978 to 2010 and is a familiar face not only within the Omaha community, but within southwest Iowa. Although Dave is semi-retired he still helps anchor during WOWT’s busy sports seasons. Dave is also in demand as a speaker, emcee, host, and performs as a professional folk singer.
Sherrill Lisle and Linda Naven have directed the Clarinda Sings Chorus for the past 25 years volunteering hours of work to ensure the event showcases local talent and is a memorable experience for all in attendance.
Both ladies shared this will be the year of “favorite songs” performed over the 25-year period. This year also marks 25 years of per-forming for four chorus members: Elaine Armstrong; Alan Bellairs; Bill Richardson; and Ron Richardson.
All tickets are general admission and are now available for purchase at the Clarinda Founda-tion Office located at 114 E. Washington St. Adult tickets are $15, students through age 18 $7.
Tickets will also be available at the ticket office 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov.24th beginning at the Clarinda High School Auditorium Ticket Office.
The doors to the auditorium will open for seating at 2:30 p.m. with the concert starting at 3 p.m. Attendees are invited to at-tend a reception in the CHS Commons immediately following the concert for light refreshments and fellowship.
